This is news, but not news, as it happened in April this year, but is well worthy of note and appreciation!
On 26 of April Paul Kaynes, Hurst Pretender, took part in and completed the London marathon on behalf of Sussex Cancer Fund, after 4 months of training and a lot of aches and pains.
He managed to finish it in a good time, even with a sprained ankle caused by one of London’s famous potholes! A half an hour visit to the amazing st John’s ambulance had him strapped up and on his way again.
Green king pubs, offering free beer with every medal after the marathon, helped ease the pain somewhat too!
Parallel to this, Paul has also been instrumental in putting on two club quiz nights and a band night at Haywards Heath Rugby Club, to raise a total of over £8,000 for the Sussex Cancer Fund, thanks to the great support of Hurst Pretenders, their friends and families and the local community.
