Conduct in accordance with the spirit of fair play is essential for the success, enjoyment, and development of walking football.
Our aim is to foster sporting spirit and respectful behaviour among coaches, players, officials, and supporters, ensuring that the game remains enjoyable for everyone.
Serious and/or repeated breaches of this Code of Conduct will be investigated and dealt with by the club’s committee.
Code of Conduct for Players
All players and members of Hurst Pretenders are expected to:
- Be aged 50 or over, unless participation has been approved by the committee on the grounds of health and wellbeing
- Play in the spirit of fair play at all times
- Follow competition rules and WFA Laws of the Game at all times
- Strive to set a positive example for others at all times
- Avoid inappropriate, foul, insulting or abusive language
- Accept both victory and defeat with dignity and respect
- Treat teammates, opponents and officials with respect, regardless of the result
- Safeguard the physical well-being of all players, including opponents
- Avoid rough play and violence at all times
- Assist injured players whenever necessary
- Respect and accept the decisions of match officials without protest
- Never mislead or attempt to deceive match officials
- Remember that this is *walking* football
- Be mindful that the session fee entitles each player to one match per session
- Acknowledge that all players participate at their own risk
The club operates a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination of any kind, including (but not limited to) sex, age, race, religion, and culture.
Code of Conduct for Supporters
Supporters are an integral part of the game, and their conduct contributes to the overall atmosphere.
Hurst Pretenders expects its supporters to:
- Encourage the team in a positive and respectful manner (e.g. shouting encouragement, non-abusive singing etc)
- Respect opponents, referees, and other supporters at all times
- Appreciate the performance of the opposition, even in defeat
- Avoid intimidating, threatening, or abusive behaviour towards players, match officials, or fellow supporters
- Uphold the club’s stance against discrimination and unacceptable conduct
