For players seeking a competitive fixture, there is a monthly tournament for over 60s, and every other month for over 70s.
Over 60s Tournament
We have been competing in this monthly competion at Sussex County FA Headquarters in Lancing since 2024. It is extremely well organised with qualified referees and first aiders on site. There are usually 20 (six a side) teams taking part, split across 4 Divisions – so all teams can play against similar standard opposition. The format comprises 4 to 5 matches of around 14 to 16 minutes duration.
The original Hurst Pretenders team is called “Blues” and it plays in the Championship Division. We have steadily attracted players to join and from 2026, we now have a second team known as “Whites”. As a new team to the competition, the Whites are currently (Summer ’26) in Division 2. The expectation is that the team will secure promotion to at least Division 1 and hopefully beyond.
Over 70s Tournament
We have been competing since late 2025 in this tournament held at Worthing Leisure Centre. We currently have 12 group members but this is growing. It is certainly a fantastic achievement for players in this age group to still be playing competitive football. Each tournament is well supported with each team playing 4 to 5 matches of around 15 minutes each in a friendly atmosphere.
Our over 70s team plays to a good standard and have won more games than they’ve lost. Additional players are very welcome to try out for the squad.

All eligible (by age) registered Hurst WFC players are potentially able to join the tournament squads, and all competitive squads within the club are open to both men and women. Additional teams could be created subject to demand, playing ability and capacity within the competitions.
