Hurst Pretenders over 50s team, during its four competitive seasons, has grown and steadily improved to become a strong outfit within the western section of the Sussex Combination Walking Football League. Some of the teams we face enjoy an enviable wealth of skilful, experienced players – many of whom of have played football semi-professionally, with one or two having been professionals in their younger days – but we are now very much able to compete toe-to-toe with every team in the league, when initially that wasn’t the case. We are pretty hard to beat and score against, and pose a genuine threat going forwards, and that goes a long way towards finding success. Standards across the league are ever improving, and so are we, and long may that continue.
We finished 4th in the league last year, but only behind three exceptionally strong teams, and we reached the cup semi-final for the first team, losing a very close match to Worthing Red.
The 2026-27 season will soon be upon us, and everyone involved is excited about the opportunity to push on again. Up The Hurst!!
