As many of you will be aware, on Saturday 22nd August we held our 13 hour Walking Football Marathon.
This incredible undertaking was organised with two important aims: to raise funds for the continued development of our Walking Football Club within the community, and to support the valuable work of Sussex Cancer Fund.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that, thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who supported us we raised an amazing £9,848.52.
This incredible total was also supported by the event’s anonymous benefactor, who generously matched donations made between 1st and 22nd August, pound for pound.
As a result of the fantastic amount raised, and taking into consideration the feedback we received, the club has decided to donate £4,000 to Sussex Cancer Fund, with this being matched by a further £4,000 donation split between The Clock Tower Sanctuary and Safe in Sussex, charities with extremely important missions.
We shall also donate £500 to Mid Sussex Radio, our local community radio station, for their fantastic support and services they offer the community in general and to our club in particular.
The remaining funds raised will be used to support the continued development of our club, helping us to grow and provide even greater opportunities within our community.
